Application Instructions

1. Safety First! Wear a cartridge respirator mask (available at most hardware stores), rubber gloves that reach mid-forearm, and goggles. Tyvek suits work great to keep mold off of your clothing.
2. Inspect the area in question for signs of mold, mildew and fungus. Common signs include musty or mildew odors, black, green or white growth or cottony growth on surfaces.
3. If you find mold, find the cause of the water intrusion and repair the cause. You must repair the cause of the water intrusion before fixing any mold damage to your home.
4. Poly off any areas suspected to be affected by mold to limit mold spores from traveling throughout your home. Use 4-6 mil poly and tape to prevent air movement outside affected areas. Tape and poly shut air duct, cold air return ducts and doorways.
5. Vacuum all loose debris off surfaces. Use only HEPA vacuums and filters.
6. Spray any visible mold stains with Remedex. For extreme mold issues, light scrubbing may be required. DO NOT USE BLEACH!! (While bleach is a great disinfectant, it does not kill all molds. It bleaches out the stains caused by mold, but when it dries it leaves a residue that mold thrives on. Mold will come back even worse in areas treated with bleach. It will also prevent proper adhesion of the Remedex product.)
7. Remove any sheetrock, carpeting, pad or substrates that have sustained heavy damage or are structurally impaired. Dispose of into plastic bags and discard.
8. All area to dry thoroughly. Use of a dehumidifier or fan is recommended.
9. Apply Mold Shield to surfaces to prevent future growth of mold, mildew, fungus, bacteria and algae. Our recommended application technique is:
   
   
   Spraying - Using a pump up sprayer or squirt bottle (available at most hardware stores), lightly apply the Mold Shield product to all surfaces you would like to protect. The product should be applied in a manner that does not cause the product to run off treated surface. (Approximately 200-400 s.f. per gallon) You will only need to apply a thin layer to give you long term protection. A thicker layer will not extend the protection. This is the best technique for heavily soiled areas, carpeting, porous areas, concrete, block, roofing, siding and other exterior applications. USE CAUTION WHEN APPLYING TO GLASS, CHROME, GRANITE, HARD FLOORING, AND OTHER HARD SURFACES. THIS IS A PERMANENT TREATMENT. IF YOU LEAVE FOOT PRINTS, FINGER PRINTS OR DIRT ON SURFACES WHEN WET THEY WILL BE THERE WHEN THE PRODUCT DRIES. IT IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE PRODUCT ONCE DRIED. WE RECOMMEND WIPING DOWN ALL SUCH AREAS WITH A CLOTH LIGHTLY MOISTENED WITH MOLD SHIELD TO ENSURE EVEN APPLICATION.
   
   
10. Allow the treated area to dry completely. Resume activities with the assurance that mold will not affect the areas treated with Mold Shield.
